Rocky Mountain Community Radio Regional Roundup

Rocky Mountain Community Radio (RMCR) is a coalition of non-commercial radio stations in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming. Member stations broadcast diverse news and music programming. KHEN is a proud member!

RMCR collaborates to produce news and enterprise journalism that connects our communities. In the Spring of 2022, RMCR hired a new Managing Editor and Producer to help coordinate news journalism collaboration and content distribution through our region. These Regional Roundup segments are a result of this collaboration, and are produced by Maeve Conran.

On this week’s Regional Roundup, we’ll hear a report on a new program that seeks to expand access to birth control, then a report on a new program that gives out free trees to residents and businesses in southwest Colorado. After that, we head to a historic ranch in Wyoming, the site where the Wilderness Act of 1964 was first drafted. After that, we’ll see how communities in Utah are pushing back against data centers, then we visit an orchard in Colorado that is cultivating historic apple varieties. We round out the show at the public library in Longmont, which recently hosted an event featuring performances of excerpts from banned books, part of the library’s Banned Books Week celebrations.
